RAD on AI- Special Outrage Edition

Here America goes again!

Usually, I would not comment on the results show since the result is the result so let’s move on to next week. But, I think last night’s elimination warrants special comment and analysis:

You will recall that my current final three is/was Matt Giraud, Alexis Grace, and Allison Iraheta. And, I boldly claimed that the judges would only use their save on one of these three. Well, Alexis is already gone and here is why.

While I had Alexis in my final two, I have to be honest: I was not passionate in my support. I just thought her short cuteness, excellent voice, and motherhood was an excellent combination to the top. And, if you watched the results show, the judges wanted to save her (before she “sang for her life”). Here was her problem: Allison was in the bottom three with her. I surmise that the judges, knowing that they only have one save, are very fearful that Allison could be in the bottom again, and that’s when it gets used. She’s only 16, and it will be very easy for her to make song mistake in the coming weeks. Throw in the colored rebellious teenager hair and lack of articulation skills (c’mon, once again, she’s only 16, people!), Simon feels that it could take a few more weeks for the mass of America to realize how special this performer could be and grow on the AI voters. In addition, Alexis also did not crush the re-do of her song under that tremendous pressure (understandably), and the judges (let’s be real, it was Simon) figured that she wouldn’t be a winner in the end.

If you have not been able to tell, I’m fine with this development (despite the “Outrage” subject line), but I am all-in with Allison, so take this as you will.

By the way, my wife makes fun of me because I am passionately analyzing everything about a glamorized karaoke show. If loving the show is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

Let me know what you think…
